about us

welcome to Farmtoun …

Farmtoun opened officially in Spring 2018, in our home Cairn O’Mhor – a converted farm steading in the pretty rural countryside of Angus, Scotland. We are your hosts, Rose (me) and George.

George and I are smallholders. We came separately to organic farming, permaculture and sustainable land use technology and ten years ago embarked on a journey in smallholding together.

Our smallholding currently consists of two polytunnels, a vegetable and bush-fruit garden, young mixed orchard, hens, ducks, rare breed Soay & Hebridean sheep, two dairy goats, a wee ginger Spaniel called Sonny and a rescue farm cat that keep the veg-eating mini-critters at bay! We enjoy our own harvest all year round, even in winter we have hardy veg, as well as stored, dried, preserved, frozen, pickled and fermented produce for the table: Our own eggs, and lamb from the wee woolly flock, milk, cheese and goat meat just around the corner.

Our guests appreciate the care we have taken to help lessen the impact that both we have, and their holiday has on the environment, and enjoy the space we have created for them. We in turn, enjoy hearing of people’s adventures and experiences, or just facilitating a quiet, peaceful and relaxing break.

Our self-catering accommodation is warm, cosy and welcoming. Check out the ‘surroundings’ page for activities and attractions in the area and then maybe book yourself a wee Scottish escape…
